Our Vision is to create a safe, vibrant and welcoming place of healing, wellness and education, and a vision of God's kingdom in our community, by working in collaboration with other health, wellness and social service professionals and agencies in order to:
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace...
Vera Louise Wilson Henderson was the head nurse of Gerber Memorial Hospital, serving the health needs of Newaygo County for 24 years. She loved caring for people of all ages and was beloved by those with whom she worked and served. After Vera's death in 2006 at the age of 94, St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Newaygo, Michigan purchased her home, which was next door to the church. In her honor, St. Mark's has transformed her residence into an outreach ministry called Vera's House, or The Vera Henderson Wellness and Education Center, a health and wellness center serving our neighborhood and community in Christ's name.
With the opening of Vera's House in February of 2008, St. Mark's has been able to expand its health and wellness ministry into the wider community by offering the services of our Parish Nurse Program and organizing a variety of wellness and health-related support groups and classes - in a comfortable, caring, welcoming place - to all who are in need.
